GULL IS RATIONING DIESEL
Gull Petroleum service stations are now rationing diesel as stocks dwindle following unprecedented demand for their uncontaminated fuel during the major oil companies' quality crisis.
Gull is limiting diesel sales to $20 per customer but says regular customers with urgent or especially important requirements should approach their suppliers for special consideration.
Gull Executive Director Neil Rae says supplies will run out soon unless he can find a major company willing to help with supplies of clean diesel.
"So far none of them have agreed to assist but we are not giving up because we need only a modest amount, about 2-3 million litres, to tide us over," he said.
Gull had previously offered to help the big companies with clean fuel when their difficulties began.
Gull says further supplies are due in New Zealand at the end of the month.
