Here are some events and meetings that could be of interest to Importers Institute members:
19 and 20 June - Masters Degrees
The Professional Masters Programme at Lincoln University provides a group of masterate programmes specifically focused on the professional development of people in the workplace. Transport management is one of the current areas of specialisation within the study programme.
It is available to students who have existing industry knowledge and an undergraduate degree or other appropriate academic background and relevant experience. This would normally be at least two years in a decision-making role but each application will be subject to individual approval. For more details, go to http://www.lincoln.ac.nz/profmast.
Prof Chris Kissling will be running a series of orientation meetings for the next semester. The meetings will take place in Auckland and Nelson on June 19 and Wellington and Christchurch on June 20. 19 June - Product Safety Seminar, Waipuna Lodge, Auckland
This seminar is hosted by the Retail Merchants Association in conjunction with the Minister of Consumer Affairs and the Commerce Commission. It is designed to help retailers with their obligations under the Fair Trading Act. Fee: $75. Contact: Barry Hellberg, bhellberg@retail.org.nz

5 and 6 July - Seminar on Rules of Origin for Hong Kong
Hong Kong and New Zealand are currently negotiating a free trade agreement. One of the key issues is the rules of origin.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), in conjunction with other departments, will be conducting seminars in Christchurch (5/7) and Auckland (6/7) to solicit views from interested parties and to outline possible options. Contact at MFAT: Stephen Harris, email stephen.harris@mfat.govt.nz.

19 July - Chairman of the Dairy Board speaks on free trade with US
The Free Trade Network of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce will host a complimentary cocktail evening to host John Roadley. The Dairy Board Chairman will talk on the benefits of a possible free trade agreement with the US.
