Newcall To License Technology To Rocom

Newcall To License Telecommunications Technology To Rocom

Newcall Technology Limited, wholly owned subsidiary of Newcall Group Limited announced today that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to license its telephone technology to Rocom Wireless for internal use on an exclusive basis in New Zealand and on a non-exclusive basis for Australia.

Newcall Group's Communications subsidiary is no longer active in New Zealand following a strategic decision by NGL to sell of its New Zealand telecommunications interests. As a result the group sold the telco's customer base to TelstraSaturn and Clear Communications earlier this year and transferred ownership of its intellectual property to Newcall Technology Limited.

The Memorandum of Understanding between NTL and Rocom, NGL will receive 400,000 Rocom shares valued at 0,50c per share, in return for the licencing rights.

NGL Managing Director, Jim Bracknell, says the function rich telephone technology is the same as that currently installed and operational in the group's telecommunications subsidiary in Singapore, Newcall Communications Singapore PTE Ltd.

NEWCALL Communications Singapore PTE was one of the first companies to receive a license when the Singapore government introduced full market competition in the telecommunications industry last year.

Since then the telco subsidiary has signed an interconnect agreement with Singapore's leading telco, SingTel and was the first to receive a Services Based Operating Licence enabling it to offer a full range of products from telephone and toll services, through calling cards and internet services.

"In addition to this state of the art telephone technology, our agreement gives Rocom full access to Newcall Technology’s comprehensive customer management and billing system," says Mr Bracknell.

"This will enable Rocom to market an integrated solution with a broad functionality especially suited to the business market, including telecommunications billing, Internet sales, e-procurement, order management and data warehousing, as well as customer and call centre management."

Mr Bracknell adds that Rocom may also provide installation and support services on a contract basis to any off shore company entering into a similar telephony licencing agreement with NTL.
