On energy Cancels Electricity Price Rise

29 June 2001 on energy

NEWS MEDIA RELEASE

On energy Cancels Electricity Price Rise

On energy announced today that it will not be proceeding with the electricity price rise planned for July.

When the increase was announced two weeks ago, On energy Managing Director John Barton gave a commitment to monitor the electricity market situation very closely, and to take whatever action the company could to protect customers.

“I’m still very concerned about the unprecedented wholesale prices and the operation of the wholesale market,” Mr Barton said today. “However, actions taken by On energy in the last two weeks have enabled us to cancel the proposed price increases for residential and small business customers.”

“We continue to urge customers to take care with their electricity use this winter as a reduction in demand can help relieve pricing pressure on the wholesale market.”
