Gull Diesel Available Again - With Low Sulphur Content
Gull Petroleum has announced its diesel fuel will be available again from tomorrow (Friday 6 July) at all its stations from Whangarei to Palmerston North..
The company has now replenished its stocks which were exhausted two weeks ago after large numbers of customers rushed its pumps to avoid contaminated diesel during last month's fuel quality crisis.
Gull executive director Neil Rae expects the newly arrived diesel to be widely welcomed, especially in Auckland, because an extremely low level of air-polluting sulphur makes it very environmentally friendly
"Tests show it has only 440 parts per million (ppm) of sulphur, less than half the level the Auckland Regional Council is seeking from the major oil companies and dramatically better than the diesel currently being sold here with sulphur levels of 2000 ppm at best."
"We will not be charging a premium for this superior quality fuel - customers will find our pump prices very competitive," Mr Rae said.
With the acquisition of Challenge by Caltex, Gull becomes the only independent fuel company left in New Zealand and the only one to import all its supplies rather than relying on the Marsden Point refinery.
