Industry Training Strategy Is Working
Business New Zealand has welcomed the Government response to the industry training strategy review.
"The review has reaffirmed the aim of an industry-led partnership with government, to improve skill levels across the workforce. The fact that last year there were over 82,000 people in quality-assured formal industry training shows the strategy is working," says Simon Carlaw, Chief Executive of Business New Zealand.
"The Government is now taking useful steps by requiring industry training organisations to take a more strategic role by planning for their industries' future training needs, and is providing for industry training at higher levels on the National Qualifications Framework.
"The industry training strategy demonstrates what can be achieved if the government works in partnership with business in its key priority of education," Mr Carlaw said.
