Smokecds Awarded For E-tail Excellence

26 NOVEMBER 2001

Thursday night of last week saw the 5th annual Netguide awards held at the Hilton Hotel in Auckland. Netguide recognises leading contributors to the New Zealand Internet scene. The guest speaker was Minister for Information Technology Paul Swain.

The Netguide magazine web awards recognised online excellence in 12 categories, as decided by a panel of five local and overseas experts.

Smokecds.com were given the highly commended award in the extremely competitive e-tail category of the awards.

E-tail is one of New Zealand's fastest growing economies of which smokecds.com was one of five finalist and the only highly commended award in the category.

The judge’s comments: It's well known that CDs are one of the biggest selling items online and here's a site that shows why. It's crammed with buyer information and at every opportunity available invites the user to take the next step of purchasing.

This result reflects the success smokecds.com has been experiencing of late. Online sales have doubled in the last 6 months, with further resources having to be allocated to keep up with the demand of new and existing customers from New Zealand and the rest of the world.

Smokecds.com users have increased an incredible %1000 since the re-launch of the site 12 months ago and now dominates on-line retail in New Zealand.

"We specialise in supplying New Zealand Music to the world".
