At $278.95 a pop you could be excused for thinking 28 bottles of Penfolds Grange 1996 vintage red wine might take a few days to move.
Not so at www.woolworths.co.nz.
The operators of the nation-wide online shopping site "discovered" more than two dozen of the seriously suppable Shiraz earlier this month. They decided to offer the sought-after Australian wine exclusively to Woolworths' on-line shoppers.
All it took was one e-mail to Woolworths Online Shopping customers "who might appreciate a fine wine offer" and all 28 bottles sold in less than 24 hours.
Grange is now so collectible very few owners can afford to draw the cork according to Master of Wine Bob Campbell.
Every serious cellar should have a bottle tucked away in a prominent place Campbell reckons.
