TIANZ Chairman Welcomes Announcement
The Chairman of the Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIANZ), Geoff Burns, today welcomed the appointment of Wally Stone as the new Chairman of Tourism New Zealand.
“Wally brings a wealth of business management and tourism experience to the role of Chairman of Tourism New Zealand. He joins TNZ at an exciting time for the tourism industry, with visitor numbers back on track, and the attendant challenges, which come with a growing industry,” Mr Burns said.
“I look forward to working with Wally to further the interests of the Industry.”
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Peter Allport for the impressive contribution he has made to the tourism industry over the past three years,” Geoff Burns said.
“Peter has given the tourism industry three years of outstanding service as Chair of TNZ. He has been one of the driving forces behind the New Zealand Tourism Strategy (a partnership between industry and Government) which plots the future for the industry over the next decade or longer.”
“I wish him well.”
