Synapse Group Helps Power Jam Session

Fans at this week’s three ‘The Edge Summer Jam’ concerts will be able to relate to the music – and each other – with the ability to directly txt message the venue big screen.

Wellington-based mobile Internet company, Synapse Group, is providing its PromoTxt txt messaging technology for the Wellington (3 April), Christchurch (4 April) and Hamilton (6 April) concerts.

Synapse Group Business Development Director, Dion James, says Saatchi and Saatchi, Boost Mobile and The Edge FM have worked with Synapse Group to enable txt messaging interactivity on the concert big screen – the first time this has been done in New Zealand outside of a live rugby fixture.

“Concert goers with mobile phones will be able to txt EDGE (3343) to have their message appear on the big screen,” says Mr James.

“There’ll be no shortage of texting themes with roving cameras at each of the concerts covering the live bands and the audience.”

Mr James says the provision of PromoTxt technology to a live concert shows the growing application of the txting medium and its ever-increasing usage by cellphone owners.

“Not only will concert goers see and hear the live bands they’ll also contribute to the entertainment via their txt messages, adding a whole new dimension to audience interaction and participation.”

‘The Edge Summer Jam’ promotion follows on from another joint initiative with The Edge FM and Boost Mobile where Edge listeners, who were Boost customers, could txt answers to questions posed over the radio to win concert tickets.

PromoTxt is a highly configurable web-enabled text messaging solution providing simple broadcast messages through to highly interactive short message service dialogues – such as multi-choice quiz games.

Each text message to ‘The Edge Summer Jam’ big screen will cost 20 cents. Featured bands include Silverchair, Che Fu, The Feelers, Rubicon and Tadpole.
