Trade NZ Export Award Finalists List Released

Auckland, May 10, 2002 -- New Zealand¡¦s top exporters for 2002 will be announced at the Export Awards finale ceremony in Auckland on May 15, with one of the 25 finalists being named New Zealand¡¦s Supreme Exporter of the Year.

The complete list of 25 finalists has now been released (see below), with the companies representing many regions around New Zealand.

Trade New Zealand General Manager Marketing Rod MacKenzie says awards will be presented across seven export sector categories ¡V education; food and beverage; engineering; manufacturing; services; technology & communications; wood & building products. One of those seven category winners will become New Zealand¡¦s Supreme Exporter for 2002.

¡§The Export Awards showcase best practice and measure export success by the achievement of growth, strategies, innovation, and hard graft - no matter whether a company is big or small,¡¨ says Mr MacKenzie. ¡§The 25 finalists in this year¡¦s awards are exceptional. All of them have demonstrated outstanding export achievement in their sector.¡¨

The Export Awards finale ceremony is the climax of Trade New Zealand¡¦s first-ever National Export Conference, held in Auckland May 14 and 15. The Export Awards are sponsored by DHL Worldwide Express.

Registrations are still open for the conference, which features Government Ministers and trade and business commentators as speakers. Several Export Award winners will also be speaking ¡V see www.tradenz.govt.nz/conference for more.
