The summer airfares for travel from Palmerston North and Hamilton to Sydney and Melbourne start from $529, with flights from Auckland to the Hunter Region also starting from $529 return. Airfares from Auckland and Hamilton to the Gold Coast start from $579 return, with flights from Hamilton and Palmerston North to Brisbane also starting from $579. Airfares to Sydney and Melbourne from Dunedin start from $579 return, with flights to Brisbane and the Gold Coast starting from $629 return. Seats are strictly limited and may not be available on all flights.

Freedom Air started operating as a Trans Tasman carrier in November 1995, offering value-based services. Over the years, it has refined its no-frills service to continually pass savings on to customers. In May last year, it also launched domestic services.

NB: Passengers should note that a number of airport taxes and charges now apply on all flights. These include an International Insurance levy for passengers arriving in and out of Australia of $NZD8 per sector (ie, $NZD16 for a return flight) plus the applicable airport departure tax. Individual airports have different policies on the age at which a passenger will be charged departure tax, please check the common questions online at www.freedomair.com or call the Freedom Air Call Centre on 0800 600 500.

In addition passengers visiting Sydney will also pay a $NZD4.20 noise tax fee for passengers arriving into Sydney, plus a $NZD22.85 Sydney passenger charge for passengers arriving and departing from Sydney. Passengers flying in and out of the Gold Coast will also pay a $NZD4.25 airport fee.
