Reserve Bank Governor's appointment signals policy stability
The appointment of Dr Alan Bollard as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank will be well received by the business community, the Employers & Manufacturers Association (Northern) says.
"Dr Bollard's appointment demonstrates Government's commitment to a monetary policy prescription that's credible to international investors," said Alasdair Thompson, EMA's chief executive.
"Dr Bollard is a proven performer with a 'steady pair of hands'.
"His prompt appointment provides both certainty, and the appropriate opportunity to review the Policy Target Agreement, which should include a widening of the term over which the inflation target can be attained."
