CHH Sticks to Consultative Process

Kinleith Mill Chief Executive Brice Landman reacted with surprise to the Engineers’ Union statement today that it was placing adverts in daily newspapers over the weekend advertising the skills of 390 Kinleith workers.

“It is inappropriate of the union to effectively sell our employees while they are still employed by CHH.

“It is also inconsistent for the EPMU to publicly advertise these people as redundant when we are still working through the legal issues arising from the union attempting to stop those same people being made redundant,” Brice Landman said.

“No one has yet been made redundant at Kinleith.

“The company is still working through the Employment Court’s order for us to consult over how redundancies should be implemented”, he said.

“A consultative process between CHH and unions is under way and has another week to run. CHH intends to stick to that process.

“Proposals made by the site unions in the current consultation process cannot provide the savings needed by the Kinleith to be sustainable in the future.

“The total value of saving proposed by the union fell well short of the company’s proposals as well as being primarily short-term in nature,” Brice Landman said.
