Primary Wool on-line

Primary Wool on-line

Wool growers can now register with the new farmer-owned national wool marketing organisation, Primary Wool Cooperative Ltd, on-line.

The website can be found at http://www.primarywool.com.

The site provides full details about the cooperative, and enables farmers to register their interest in becoming a client and/or shareholder of the company.

Managing director Brian Murray says being a shareholder enables wool growers to share in the company's profits, as well as enjoying maximum earnings for their wool. The cooperative structure means the company's earnings are retained within the wool producing sector, and not lost to commercial investors.

Primary Wool Cooperative Ltd was formed in November through the merger of two of New Zealand's largest wool cooperatives, East Coast Wool Cooperative Ltd of Dannevirke and the wool division of Combined Rural Traders (CRT Primary Wools) based in Christchurch.

It services the full cross-section of New Zealand wool growers and will handle more than 140,000 bales of wool in its first year, making it the second largest procurer of wool in New Zealand, and the largest wool cooperative by a significant margin.
