Positive Spin-Off for Local Manufacturers
The Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association is pleased to see the Christchurch City Holdings and Christchurch City Council supporting further development of the hi-tech job sector in Christchurch with the announcement made on Friday approving investment of $20 million towards the Christchurch Engine Centre’s new test cell facility.
“This is local government taking a leadership role in economic development in a creative way without placing additional burden on the rate-payer, encouraging foreign direct investment and creating jobs by supporting infrastructure development.” Said John Walley, CEO of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association
“The expansion of the Christchurch Engine Centre means more highly skilled jobs; means more high technology development and will support the upskilling of the manufacturing sector in Canterbury”, said John Walley.
“The test facility on the V2500 engine is a sunrise opportunity which will have a positive impact far beyond the immediate engine test development for years to come.” said Walley.
