He is a former director of the Bank of New Zealand and Citibank, Australia and was CEO for Citibank in New Zealand from 1986 to 1990.

In 1990 he was appointed by the Reserve Bank and the Minister of Finance as Statutory Manager of DFC New Zealand Ltd. Since the end of that project in 1992 he has undertaken a wide range of consultancy projects both in New Zealand and offshore.
