West Coast farmer to chair industry good board

West Coast farmer to chair industry good board

Ian Robb, an experienced West Coast dairy farmer and current chairman of Westland Milk Products, has been re-elected to the Dairy InSight board and appointed chairman.

The new Dairy InSight board met for the first time on Thursday 5 June and voted Ian Robb as chairman.

“I am honoured to have been chosen as the chair of the Dairy InSight board. I am passionate about the dairy industry and Dairy InSight. I am particularly excited about being part of the first farmer elected board as I strongly believe in the principle of farmers funding and controlling their own industry,” said Ian Robb, Chairman of Dairy InSight.

Ian Robb has been involved in the dairy industry for over twenty years and was a Director of the Dairy Board for 13 years. During that time he represented the Dairy Board on the boards of the Livestock Improvement Corporation, Agricultural Industry Training Organisation, Meat New Zealand and the Animal Health Board.

“I have been involved in the dairy industry all my working life, having worked on farms and share-milked. After nine years sharemilking in the Waikato, my wife and I purchased our first farm in Westland and I am still there today, farming with my family, milking 1,300 cows on five different farms.”

Dairy InSight is the newly established organisation, created after deregulation of the dairy industry, responsible for co-ordinating and funding industry good activities such as research and promotion on behalf of dairy farmers.

The other four dairy farmer elected board members are:
