Franchise Business Awards 2003 – Call For Entries

Franchise Business Awards 2003 – Call For Entries

The Franchise Association of New Zealand (FANZ) is seeking entries into this years New Zealand Franchise Awards, and some lucky entrant will get to drive away in an XK8Jaguar sports car for the weekend, just by entering.

Robert Fowler, Chairman of FANZ, says the Franchise Awards are the premier franchising event of the year, celebrating excellence in franchising.

“The Awards celebrate the high performers in franchising, which is now a $10.4 billion turnover industry from 14,000 franchised outlets in New Zealand, employing around 70,000 people.” he said.

Three new award categories have been added this year: best Franchise Exporter, best Brand Communication and best First Time Entrant.

Bruce Speers, CEO of Fastway Couriers and Supreme Award Winner from the 2002 New Zealand Franchise Awards, is encouraging all franchisees and franchisors to enter the awards, regardless of their size.

“The benefits and opportunities that have arisen from our success at last years Awards have been fantastic. Not only have we been able to promote our success externally, in terms of both recruitment and selling our services, but we have also benefited internally from processes we had to go through to enter the awards. It is an extremely enjoyable way to examine your franchise system in depth”, he says.

Robert Fowler says franchising as a business model is going from strength to strength.

“New business start-ups under a franchise system have a 94% success rate in the first three years. When you compare this to traditional new business start-ups, which have a very high failure rate in the first year, it is not hard to see why franchising as a business model is experiencing such huge growth,” he said.

Entry forms for the Franchise Awards can be obtained from the Franchise Association Office in Auckland ph (09) 278 9012. Entries close 1 August 2003.
