Development of the COMMANDER Ultra 110

Connor and Associates, Commander Yachts and Judy Bell Design is pleased to announce their collaboration for the development of the COMMANDER Ultra 110.

The yacht features high tech ultra-light composite construction, an advanced sail handling system, a hydraulic lifting keel, twin rudders, luxurious accommodation and the Commander trade mark "La Plage Privee" and is being built in New Zealand with delivery in late 2004.

"The Commander 110" combines high performance, ease of handling, safety and luxury with style and structural integrity that will set new standards for years to come.

The hull incorporates a fine 'U' shaped entry, moderate beam and well-balanced hull volume distribution allowing good load carrying capacity with superior performance characteristics. A hydraulically lifting keel allows access to the shallow waters, while allowing excellent speed upwind. The keel and twin rudders incorporate the latest in foil design in order to maximize lift while minimizing drag. The double rudders allow a large tender garage and equipment storage area aft while also maintaining perfect control in all points of sail.

Dedicated guest areas in the cockpit provide plenty of room to relax as well as an easy sailing platform. The Captain and crew can sail this yacht short-handed without compromising the comfort and personal space of the Owner's and guests. The helmsman can steer from either of the twin wheels and be within reach of all controls required while underway.

The interior for the Commander 110' is arranged to provide the Owners and their guests with total comfort and privacy. The layout is open and spacious. The main saloon, entertainment and dining area, which offers panoramic views while seated, has also been designed to create an air of intimacy. Owners' and guest cabins are positioned aft with adjacent bathrooms. The Captain and crew are accommodated forward of the mast, close to the galley and utilities. This area is completely self-contained, but the crew has direct access to the main lounge and dining area to serve guests when required in addition to a separate deck entry when the Owners' party wishes to remain undisturbed.
