NZ’s biggest independent blind-shutter company changes hands

New Zealand’s largest independently owned blind and shutter company has changed hands.

Window Treatments, founded in 1984, was bought out this month by Graeme Rose of Christchurch.

Mr Rose will be the new managing director. He will be retaining some of the family members as employees of the new company but others will retire.

The blind and shutter company makes 2000 blinds a week in its Christchurch factory and has an annual turnover exceeding $10 million.

It has branches in Auckland, Hamilton, Napier, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch and Dunedin with over a 120 employees.

Window treatment’s subsidiary, WT International Ltd, exports throughout the South Pacific, Japan, the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Mr Rose indicated today they will be looking to open another branch in Auckland in the next 12 months.

``We are under-represented in the Auckland market and we hope to open a North Shore branch before too long,’’ he said.
