June Visitor Arrivals To Fiji Up Again
Visitor
arrivals for the month of June 2003 totalled 39,618 an
increase of 11.4 percent over June 2002 arrival figure of
35,556. Pacific Islands recorded a major increase in June
2003, up 2,716 from 1,777 to 4,493 due to the South Pacific
Games held in Fiji. Increases in June 2003 were recorded for
visitors from the United States of America and Australia,
each recording increases of 1,102 (19.2%) and 1,019 (9.2%)
visitors respectively. Other increases were also recorded
for the United Kingdom up 596 (20.3%); Continental Europe up
250 (18.8%) and Canada up 140 (24.4%). Visitors from New
Zealand and Japan however recorded decreases for June. New
Zealanders were down by 926 (10.5%) and Japan by 389
(19.7%). South Korea also recorded a decrease of 119
(30.9%).
