Compliance issues – Air New Zealand flights at Auckland

Over the past few weeks three incidents at Auckland International Airport – involving Air New Zealand aircraft bound for the United States – have been reported in the media as "breaches of security".

In fact, none of these incidents was the result of a security breach. They all occurred because of compliance issues relating to some passengers who required additional documentation and inspections before boarding the aircraft.

The Aviation Security Service was not advised about these passengers and discovered the problem only when officers reconciled passenger lists. The flights were delayed until the proper compliance issues were resolved.

The Aviation Security Service is discussing the problem with Air New Zealand to ensure there are no further incidents of this nature.
