Origin Pacific To Commence Taupo Services
Origin Pacific To Commence Taupo Services
Following encouragement and support for additional services to Taupo from a wide section of the community, Origin has decided to introduce Taupo to its network as part of the Airline’s spring schedule changes.
The new service will operate to and from Wellington with connections to Christchurch and South Island destinations on the Origin network.
A 19 seat turbo prop Jetstream 32 aircraft will be utilised for this service which will depart Wellington for Taupo at 12.15pm and Taupo to Wellington at 1.30pm. Initially the new service will operate 4 days per week.
Origin’s Managing Director Robert Inglis said this is a first step to bring additional air services to Taupo and if the services are well patronised, they can be quickly expanded.
Mr Inglis
said Origin will also be requesting the Commerce Commission
and the Government as major shareholder to ensure the state
funded airline exercises the appropriate due process when a
dominant market supplier introduces a competitive response,
should they choose to do so.
