The pulse of rural innovation

The pulse of rural innovation

In the hub of the 2004 National Fieldays, the Innovation Centre is a new-look forum for rural innovators to showcase - and be rewarded for - their initiatives.

Organisers of Fieldays Innovations – inventions prototype and equipment awards are encouraging budding innovators to start developing ideas today in preparation for next year’s event.

The Innovation Centre is a stepping stone for inventors, giving them the opportunity to take their concepts to the marketplace, according to Fieldays Innovations Committee Chairman Don Heaslip.

“Initial ideas have often progressed to commercial production in only a few short years after being revealed at Fieldays,” Mr Heaslip says.

And while organisers doubt seasoned innovators will be stuck for ideas, they suggest a good place to start might be the 2004 National Fieldays Premier Feature, “Energy Efficient Farming – sustainable benefits”.

The theme takes into account a vast array of agricultural approaches, products and ideas and encourages farmers to improve profitability by using energy more efficiently in their farming business.

The New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays would like to encourage the development of these ideas by showcasing them at the 2004 Innovation Centre (formerly known as the Awards Area).
