NZ Duty Free Wins Major International Award

New Zealand Duty Free Wins Major International Award

Regency Duty Free, New Zealand’s largest airport retailer, has put New Zealand duty free shopping on the map, winning the best website category at the prestigious Raven Fox Awards for travel excellence in the Asia Pacific region.

Regency’s online store, www.regency.co.nz, was announced the winner in Cannes, after being judged the best duty free site by representatives from the Asia Pacific travel industry – for the second year.

“We are thrilled that Regency is the leading online duty free retailer in the Asia Pacific region,” says Gareth Lathey, e-commerce co-ordinator, Regency Duty Free. “Winning this award for two years running recognises New Zealand as one of the best online duty free shopping destinations in the world.”

Regency, the world’s first duty free retailer to launch an Internet shopping facility, celebrated the fifth year of its successful online store this year. Since 1998, www.regency.co.nz has enabled customers to pre-order goods for departure or arrival through Auckland and Christchurch International Airports from anywhere in the world.

According to Gareth Lathey, Regency’s online store currently attracts in excess of 28,000 visitor numbers a month with a high translation into sales. “Regency is committed to maintaining excellent customer service both in store and online. As well as upgraded and relaunching our website this year, we also revealed a new-look departures store at the Auckland International Airport, with the installation of the country’s first digital signage network from OpenEye Displays.”
