Origin Pacific puts more Airfare Deals together

MEDIA RELEASE – for immediate release
Friday 27 February 2004

New Zealand’s airline innovator, Origin Pacific Airways, puts more Airfare Deals together – this time with Malaysia Airlines, Aerolineas Argentinas and Garuda Indonesia.

These airlines add to agreements already established recently with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Korean Air and P & O Cruises and put the total to 7 international partners.

Ewan Wilson, Origin’s General Manager Sales & Marketing said, “these agreement mark the end of our ‘big push’ to form partnerships after Qantas announced that its domestic codeshare agreement would finish at the end of March. The new AddOn fares will provide peace of mind for passengers connecting with our intentional partners as the fares are not only great value but fully flexible.”

Origin’s commitment to passengers travelling on the special international connections is to transfer them to the next available Origin flight, should they have the misfortune to miss their connection due to international delays, at no additional charge.

Mr Wilson says “we’ve carefully designed our winter schedule (which starts in April) to enable further connections to Auckland from throughout New Zealand and have introduced additional services and the spacious 64 seat ATR-72’s on the Wellington/Auckland sector. We will have 6 returns every weekday with great weekend connections as well between Wellington and Auckland commencing April.”

The agreements will provide more international passengers with a cost effective alternative to connect to and from Auckland from anywhere in New Zealand serviced by the Origin network.

Origin Pacific Airways Managing Director, Robert Inglis, says his company is actively promoting the new AddOn fares and is offering travel agents a great incentive to start booking the special fares. “Origin is committed to providing cost-effective fares to ensure that New Zealanders are able to connect to international carriers and to ensure that New Zealand remains a viable, cost-effective destination for international travellers.

Competition, in the end, is what consumers benefit from and we are simply providing alternatives to ensure that Origin remains a viable option for domestic connections in New Zealand and we acknowledge that Travel Agents play an important part in the industry today.”
