Training strategy working - Business NZ
The record high training statistics released today show the Government's industry training strategy is working, says Business NZ.
Chief Executive Simon Carlaw says 30,000 employers and 127,000 employees taking part in some form of formal industry training means a good platform of skills is being created to aid future economic growth.
"Business NZ's own Scorecard for Growth* has set a target of 160,000 employees involved in training by 2005. We are clearly well on the way to meeting this target.
"Just as positive is
the high numbers of employers involved. The statistics
show New Zealand employers, by investing in the future
capability of their workforce, are serious about growing a
high-skills economy," Mr Carlaw said.
