Freedom Air's First Fiji Flight Ready For Take Off

Freedom Air's First Fiji Flight Ready For Take Off

Freedom Air's new low priced service to Fiji will take off from Hamilton Airport tomorrow (Thursday 29 April), with an inaugural flight direct to Nadi.

It is the first of a series of launches for the new Fiji service, and will be followed by the first flight from Christchurch to Nadi on 13 May, and Palmerston North to Nadi on 15 May 2004.

Freedom Air launched its new Hamilton-Fiji service with a promotional fare of $199 one-way (excluding taxes and surcharges), regarded as one of the smallest fares to Fiji ever seen in New Zealand. It's low season Hamilton-Fiji fare starts from $209 one-way (excluding taxes and surcharges). Bookings on Freedom Air's Fiji flights are reported to be very strong with popular dates around school holidays already sold out.

Wayne Dodge, general manager for Freedom Air, says its Fiji services are part of a new strategic direction, which will see the airline look for new holiday destinations within a five-hour flying time of New Zealand. "We've always been committed to providing New Zealanders with really, really small fares, and direct flights to the most desirable holiday destinations possible," he says. "We will continue to evaluate other new route possibilities and look forward to more announcements in the near future."

Freedom Air will carry 123 passengers on its inaugural flight from Hamilton International Airport, taking approximately 3.5 hours to reach Nadi. Initially, the Freedom Air service between Hamilton and Nadi will operate once a week.
