Fashion designer Robyn Mathieson makes smart move for Working Girls
Fashion designer Robyn Mathieson's new "Working Girls" Winter 2004 range is now exclusively available from Robyn Mathieson stores in Auckland and Wellington.
Robyn Mathieson says her range is inspired by the working girls of the everyday world, and transforms the day to day into something unexpected and mysterious.
The range was launched during the Ponsonby Fringe Festival in March this year.
Robyn Mathieson's Working Girls range is designed to take you wherever you need to go in the modern world of business, creativity and after-hours adventure, with three distinctive looks.
The cafe girl look offers a bohemian individuality with a polished urban feel.
Tailored denim jackets, black pinafores, pinstripe shirts and trousers are about looking sharp in the most demanding situations.
For the "cuisine girls", lightweight merino wools, fitted cotton shirts and belted trousers are a subtle reinvention of the the office professional frequenting a stylish lunch hour eatery.
For the late night look, the "vino set" style is like a heady cocktail in a smart bar, charming, romantic yet alluring in satins and velvets.
Wellington based Robyn Mathieson recently moved into a brand new workroom located in the hub of the Cuba quarter in Wellington.
She says the need for a bigger space became obvious as business grew.
Robyn Mathieson says she has been busy implementing a new business plan, identifying her core business as retail.
As a result the Robyn Mathieson label is no longer being wholesaled, and will be exclusively stocked by Robyn Mathieson retail stores in Wellington and Auckland.
"The majority of our business is driven by retail and we found that this seems to be the best business model for us at the moment" says Ms Mathieson.
