International Speaker Series Attracts Top Talent

Some of the world's leading experts in management strategy will address New Zealand audiences next month as part of the University of Auckland Business School's inaugural New Hemisphere Speaker Series.

The 2004 series, to be held during June and July, also features a former European Prime Minister and the Chief Executive of New Zealand's biggest company.

The series is open to the public and has been designed by the Business School to help New Zealand meet the challenges of enterprise creation and growth in the global business environment.

"The New Hemisphere Speaker Series reflects our desire to provide a dynamic forum between business, academia, and government," says Professor Barry Spicer, Dean of the Business School.

"We're pleased to have attracted some of the leading names in their fields, and I'm confident the knowledge they share will be of great benefit to local audiences."

Speakers and their topics are:

"The New Strategy in the Invisible Continent" June 2: Tokyo-based Dr Kenichi Ohmae, known internationally as "Mr Strategy" and rated by The Economist as one of the world's top five management experts.

"The Unique Opportunities and Challenges of the Co-operative Model" June 10: Andrew Ferrier, CEO of Fonterra, responsible for 20 per cent of New Zealand's export receipts, and one of the world's biggest dairy companies.

"Internationalisation Strategies for Companies from Smaller Economies" June 16: Professor George Yip of the London Business School, one of the world's leading authorities on global strategy and marketing, internationalisation and multinational strategies for Asia-Pacific.
