Have cruise, will rock!

There'll be plenty of rockin' and rollin' on P&O Cruises' Pacific Sky end-of-July cruise to the tropical South Pacific from Auckland - but it's unlikely to be the sea that's the culprit.

High energy Kiwi rockers Elemeno P will be singing up a storm with a one-night, aft-deck open air gig on the P&O Cruises liner.

The 46,000 ton Pacific Sky's stabilisers should be fully tested by the energetic band's live performance during the 11-night, five-port voyage departing Auckland on July 30.

"Pacific Sky is renowned as a ship that caters to all ages. The Elemeno P gig will certainly provide top quality home grown music for our younger passengers," says P&O Cruises' business development manager Shannon Currie.

"Cruising's not just for Engelbert Humperdinck fans you know."

Mr Currie hastens to add that more refined entertainment will also be available throughout Pacific Sky's Idyllic Indulgence cruise.

The one-off voyage takes in four ports of call in tropical Fiji before heading to sunny Samoa, returning to Pacific Sky's Auckland base on August 10, and is in conjunction with popular Top 40 radio station The Edge.

"The cruise has been a hit with The Edge listeners, who not only entered to win cabins being given away by the station, but also have been keen to book!

"It's a really affordable mid-winter break in the tropics and it's great value, especially when you're with your mates in a four-berth cabin and considering the fare includes all main meals and entertainment.

"On Pacific Sky you spend most of your time out and about, so whether you're in a two berth or four berth cabin is really immaterial - you have the run of the ship just like everyone else," Mr Currie says.

Pacific Sky's Idyllic Indulgence fares are still available from $1,195 quad share for an eleven-night cruise.

Fares include all main meals, entertainment and activities onboard. In addition to the one-off Elemeno P gig, there's a variety of live entertainment every night aboard ship and each cabin has its own personal steward.

Pacific Sky also has three pools, a health spa, gym, ship-top jogging track, show lounge, cinema, casino, internet centre, nightclub, library, 24-hour pizzeria and a children's centre.

Details on Pacific Sky's Auckland season are available through travel agents or P&O Cruises on 0800 44 17 66 or visit www.pocruises.co.nz

* Elemeno P comprises Dave Mason (vocalist-songwriter) and Justin Pilbrow (vocalist-guitar) from Glenfield in Auckland, Scotty Pearson on drums (Taranaki) and West Auckland bassist Lani Perkis. The band's debut album is titled Love and Disrespect.
