Vodafone’s Lynley Kirk-Smith named New Zealand’s Marketer of the Year
Lynley Kirk-Smith, general manager, company communications & sponsorship for Vodafone has been named FCB Marketer of the Year, at the annual Marketing Magazine Marketing Awards, held in Auckland last night.
In an all female contest, Lynley Kirk-Smith took the Award ahead of fellow finalists Debbie Billcliff, marketing manager for Pfizer Consumer Healthcare and Jeanette Paine, marketing manager for Netball New Zealand.
Judges describe Kirk-Smith as a highly motivated, intuitive and mature operator with a wide scope of influence throughout her organisation. They say she holds a very good understanding of the company and how all aspects of it work and come together to deliver results. Above all else though, she understands her market; savvy young people who are at once cynical, demanding, competitive, and highly mobile both in lifestyle and brand or service ‘loyalty’.
They say she demonstrates to a high level all the attributes required of a 21st century marketer, from the political to the practical, in an industry role that is as demanding and changeable as its customer.
