Statement From Canwest Global Communications Corp.

Recently, there has been media speculation regarding CanWest’s involvement in a forestry investment commonly referred to as “Trinity” and certain IRD and related court proceedings. While certain entities associated with CanWest Global Communications Corp. (a Canadian media company) have interests in a forestry investment in New Zealand, since March 2004 there have been no ongoing taxation issues in dispute with the IRD or before the courts in respect of this investment. CanWest MediaWorks (NZ) Limited, the publicly-listed company in New Zealand, has no interest with this investment.
