Freedom Air Announces Wellington-Fiji Details

Freedom Air today announced full details of its new direct services between Wellington and Nadi, Fiji.

From 5 February 2005, Freedom Air will launch a weekly service direct to Fiji.

Sales for Freedom Air’s new services from Wellington to Fiji will be available on the airlines website from 4pm tomorrow (27 August 2004) with fares starting from a tiny $169* one-way. Travel at this price is for the period 5 February - 2 April 2005. Sales will be available on the Freedom Air website, www.freedomair.com, until 6 September 2004. *Fare excludes an $8 per sector insurance surcharge, $20 fuel surcharge and all other taxes. A return fare or onward ticket must be purchased to fulfil Fiji immigration requirements.

Michael Young, Freedom Air’s acting general manager, says as the only New Zealand owned low-cost airline Freedom Air is committed to making travel to more exciting destinations a possibility for more Kiwis. “Our direct services and really small fares opens up the possibility of a trip to Fiji for more people in the Wellington area,” he says. “By flying direct we eliminate the need for domestic flights, making travel more convenient and saving our passengers precious holiday time.”

Young says that the new Wellington services are due to the strong result achieved on this route from other ports. “More than 16,000 bookings have been made on these services so far,” he says. “It is clear that direct flights to Fiji from airports closer to home are exactly what the New Zealand public is looking for.”
