Congratulations to award-winning Manukau businesses
Manukau mayor Sir Barry Curtis says the winners in this year's Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards are outstanding businesses which contribute greatly to the city. The winners were announced this week.
"Each year the Awards recognise our companies which not only carry out their business successfully, but perform outstandingly. They win because they have the X factor. It is appropriate that they should be heralded because their achievements set the standards for others to follow.
"I congratulate them all, in particular the supreme award winner, retailer Kiwi Discovery Ltd.
"The business community is made up of positive, hard working, focused and committed entrepreneurs who dare to take risks, who have a vision and give 100% to try to achieve it.
"I admire them all. Of course, these businesses also contribute to the economic expansion of our city and create jobs which are the foundation of security for individuals and their families.
"Manukau City Council is determined to play its part to help business growth in the city. To that end, we are pursuing our employment and economic development strategies and regularly reviewing our systems in order to reduce compliance costs."
In the year to March, Manukau's economic growth rate was 7.3% and 7,500 jobs were created in the city.
