Airport services bonus a sign of understanding
The Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIANZ) says an announcement today to boost Customs and MAF services at Auckland and Christchurch airports is a welcomed recognition of the government’s partnership in the visitor industry.
“To maintain our very successful reputation we must provide visitors with services at the border that are either consistent with or exceed that of other high quality destinations around the world.” says TIANZ spokesperson John Moriarty.
“An ongoing increase in visitor numbers has been forecast for many years and if the government values this growing export income then essential public services at the border must be funded accordingly.
“The package announced supports the significant investment Auckland International Airport Limited and Christchurch International Airport are making on behalf of the whole industry to deliver a quality service to our international visitors.” says Mr Moriarty.
TIANZ looks forward to the outcome of the government’s consultation with industry on the full delivery of public border services at airports.
