Christmas lights twinkle far and wide

The Professionals Christmas Lights Spectacular will once again light up the homes of many Aucklanders/Northlanders and, in doing so, bring joy to thousands of spectators and passers by.

In its seventh year this event continues to gain momentum annually, encouraging more and more home owners to transform the exterior of their homes into an extravaganza of twinkling lights.

Participants enter into the event with others in their area by registering at their local Professionals office, most of them striving to have the brightest and the best lit house in their street.

The Professionals Regional Manager for the Auckland/Northland Region, Gary Murphy, says the Professionals Christmas Lights Spectacular has proven to be a great way of engaging communities, celebrating the magic of Christmas and delighting thousands of children and their families.

"It's fantastic seeing the pure joy on the faces of wide-eyed kids - and their parents - as they gaze at oversize Santas, dazzling reindeer and truly amazing light displays. Some of the homes really have to be seen to be believed."

This year for the first time, Aucklanders can tune in to Auckland's regional television station, Triangle Television (UHF channel 41 and in Remuera on UHF Channel 52) for details of the most spectacularly lit homes.

The focus of the Professionals Christmas Lights Spectacular is the Christmas theme and the use of decorative lights to help promote the spirit of the season. Each of the participating Professionals offices has come up with its own community initiative - some are judging winners, others are presenting prizes to all participants or holding a prize draw. Some even involve local business categories.

Entry forms are available at most Professionals offices in the Auckland/Northland region and at Triangle Television at 28 Surrey Crescent, Grey Lynn, Auckland. There is no entry fee.
