Gillette introduces another 1st for men's shaving

Gillette introduces another 'first' for men's shaving

The "war on whiskers" is far from over. The company that invented the safety razor more than 100 years ago and then gave men the first multi-bladed razor is preparing to shake up the shaving market once more - this time with real power.

Gillette is launching the world's first battery-powered razor for men - M3Power - in New Zealand, which is set to change shaving and men's grooming forever.

Soccer superstar David Beckham was given the opportunity to trial the razor when it was launched in the United Kingdom.

"I was lucky enough to be one of the first to shave with Gillette M3Power and I couldn't believe how close and comfortable it was," said Mr Beckham.

Gillette Grooming Business Manager Andrea Spearman says the new M3Power outperformed all other men's shaving systems, including its own Gillette MACH3Turbo.

"Gillette asked men in the US to trial M3Power alongside other Gillette razors and competitor products to test its performance. The results showed M3Power was by far the most effective razor, receiving 100 percent satisfaction against all criteria. It surpassed MACH3Turbo, which was itself preferred by men over Schick's four-bladed Quattro razor by two to one," says Ms Spearman.

Powered with a Duracell AAA battery, a remarkably comfortable and thorough shave is delivered in just one M3Power stroke. So thorough, men can take fewer strokes which means less irritation

"Gillette M3Power has been built on the heritage of MACH3 and combines Gillette's latest and best razor and blade technologies, designed to offer men a unique shaving experience," adds Ms Spearman.

The M3Power handle features strategically placed elastomeric cushions and knurling that give the user greater control.

The new PowerGlide blades have a have a unique patented blade coating that produces Gillette's smoothest blade surface for incredible comfort.

The blade cartridge features an Indicator® Lubrastrip(tm) infused with Vitamin E and Aloe providing added moisture for the skin.

The M3Power is shower-safe, allowing men to shave wherever they prefer.

This revolutionary new razor is being launched alongside a new Gillette shaving gel for men, MACH3Turbo Gel. The gel will complement the actions of the M3Power razor, and support the well established MACH3 heritage delivering the world's best razor glide, at the same time helping nourish and sooth the skin with its active ingredients, Aloe and Vitamin E.

"MACH3Turbo Gel is a huge development for Gillette shaving preparations. The advanced technology and Aloe and Vitamin E ingredients will deliver Kiwi men a significantly closer, safer and more comfortable shave then they have previously experienced," says Ms Spearman.

Gillette will be sending a state of the art, fully kitted out shaving truck around the country to give men the chance to feel the power and trial the M3Power razor first hand. The truck will visit Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin from April 18 to May 14. A detailed schedule and more information about the mobile shaving lab will be distributed in the near future.

Gillette M3Power and MACH3Turbo Gel are available nationwide wherever Gillette products are sold including leading pharmacies and supermarkets.
