Prime Wins Deal Or No Deal
Prime Television today announced it has secured Deal Or No Deal, the game show that gives contestants the opportunity to win up to $200,000 each night, or $1 million a week.
Hailed as the most successful game show in television history, it is currently enjoying phenomenal ratings in over 30 countries.
In Australia last year, 1.6 million viewers saw the programme launch and during the first series DEAL OR NO DEAL featured the largest cash prize ever offered in Australia, of $1 million.
6.2 million people in France and 3.8 million people in Germany tuned into the series launch and the Italian version has been breaking ratings records since its October 2003 launch. 15.6 million Italians regularly watch the series, which is 49% of all viewers for any given episode.
Hosted by master dealer, ANDREW O’KEEFE, each half hour begins with 26 contestants randomly selected to join the podium. These contestants face 3 quick multiple-choice questions and the winner of this round has a shot at the $200,000, which is randomly hidden in one of 26 sealed briefcases.
Throughout the game this one contestant will be tempted with cash offered by the bank to walk away from their chosen briefcase, but ultimately the decision is theirs –Deal or No Deal?
"Choose the wrong briefcase, you might take home $1. Choose the right briefcase, and you could end up going home a lot richer," explains O'Keefe. "Everything about this show is big. The prize money is huge, the pressure is enormous, and there are 150 players champing at the bit for the opportunity to change their lives."
DEAL OR NO DEAL will screen in New Zealand on Prime Television in 2005.
