Construction accident occurs on airfield
Auckland Airport this afternoon confirmed that a sub-contractor was involved in a fatal accident while working on a water main replacement project on the airfield. Police and OSH are at the scene and are investigating the cause.
The accident occurred shortly after 1200 today, it did not involve an aircraft and does not affect airport operations.
The man’s immediate family are being contacted by Police.
Auckland Airport chief executive officer, Don Huse, said that the accident was a tragedy for the family of the victim, his workmates and the airport community.
