Unprecedented Interest In Gisborne Estate

Unprecedented Interest In Gisborne Estate To Create A Most Fascinating Auction

The sale of one of this country’s most breathtaking properties near Gisborne has generated unprecedented interest with the auction still 6 weeks away.

Over 30 buyers have expressed serious interest in the 65-hectare property, adjacent the historical landmark, Young Nicks Head, 20 kms south of Gisborne township.

According to property agent David Egan from Harveys Gisborne, there has been an even split between foreign and New Zealand potential purchasers. “Normally with a property of this category we would expect to see a predominantly foreign clientele,” he says.

“But I am thrilled to see New Zealanders from throughout the country tendering their interest and appreciating the true value of this land.”

With a stately 1920s solid rimu homestead reminiscent of the most distinguished English manor, ‘Highgate Estate’ is a slice of all the very best New Zealand has to offer, including lush rural pasture, mature native plantings, 1km of private white sand surf beach and fishing river.

The home’s exceptional design maximises views of naturalised gardens featuring sub tropical plants and fruits, English woodland gardens with 80 year old trees, native bush walks and Mediterranean plantings. Sweeping views extend over its private beach suitable for swimming, surfing and fishing, while a tree-lined river offers a shady retreat.

Potential buyers are considering a wide range of uses, from private retreat to resort development.

With the advertising campaign only just underway, Egan expects interest to skyrocket, resulting in what could prove to be the most interesting auction ever seen in Gisborne. Several buyers have approached him with private offers but the owners are keen to see it sell under the hammer.

“Highgate is one of the last costal properties of this size on the market. It is a real character property in pristine condition offering serenity and privacy and the practicality of a modern restoration, and will be a dream come true for the successful bidder.“

Highgate Estate will be put up for auction on 2 June, with bidding tipped to exceed $5 million.
