Who makes a difference?

Nominations for the Trust Manukau Business Contribution to the Community Award are now open.

The Award, which is part of the Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards, seeks to recognise those in business who make a difference.

"Our challenge right now is to find companies and the people who lead them and tell their stories so they might inspire others to do the same," says Janis McArdle, CEO of Trust Manukau.

Last year's recipient of this award was Murray Hill, owner of Clendon New World. Murray has built on the traditions established by his father for this second generation family business of supporting the local community through many very generous acts of sponsorship, charitable giving and employee assistance programmes.

Hearing how seriously Murray and his father before him take their responsibility to the community in which they do business was truly inspiring, says McArdle.

"Murray Hill was a very worthy recipient - but we know there are many more people like him and we would like to see those people be nominated for this year's award."

Nominations can be made on a one-page form which can be downloaded at www.bizawards.co.nz .
