Consumer Online launches Mobile Phone Plan Selector

Making sure you’re not paying too much to use your mobile phone is now a whole lot easier.

Mobile phone use varies a great deal – from full-time texting or calling to occasional use. With such wide variation in usage patterns, it can be a real challenge for consumers to pinpoint the plan which offers them the best value for money.

To help people make sense of the options, Consumer has created an interactive Mobile Plan Selector. Consumers enter the details of their likely weekly mobile phone usage – both calls and texts – and the Selector identifies the cheapest plans on offer from Telecom and Vodafone.

Institute Chief Executive, David Russell, said “At last, consumers have an easy way to compare the different plans. It’s possible to make substantial savings by making sure you are on the right calling plan.”

The Selector is part of a mobile phone guide – which includes independent test results for over 80 GSM mobile phones, advice on choosing a phone and plan, and reliability data.

Access to the Mobile Plan Selector is free until the end of June, and then is available exclusively to Consumer Online members.

The Selector is the latest interactive service to appear on Consumer Online, the website of Consumers’ Institute. Other price-comparison services available on the site are: bank fees electricity prices gas prices broadband and dial-up internet options mortgage rates term deposits and more …
