Blakley Pacific Limited Salutes Retiring Forest Industry Leader
Michael Buchanan, Vice President and Managing Director for Blakely Pacific Ltd. Has elected to take early requirement, effective at the end of 2005.
Mr Buchanan joined Port Blakely Tree Farms LP (parent company to Blakely Pacific Ltd) in 1989 in Washington State, USA. In 1994, he was selected to head the New Zealand operation of the newly formed Blakely Pacific Ltd., initially based in Tauranga. For the past eleven years, Mr Buchanan has had direct responsibility for building the New Zealand operation of Blakely Pacific Ltd. Today the company's forest estate is located on both North and South Islands. The company, which employs a staff of nine, operates from a head office located in Christchurch with other offices in Timaru and Tauranga. The total Blakely Pacific forest estate is managed on a sustainable basis and is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
“Michael has established a company that is highly respected by fellow foresters, business associates, the communities in which it operates and the local Iwi. We are indeed proud of his accomplishments and wish him the very best for the future,” commented John Warjone, President of Blakely Pacific Ltd.
Michael and his wife Susan will be returning to Washington State, USA in early 2006.
Blakely Pacific has begun the search process for a new Managing Director to head their New Zealand operations.
