Canadian Employers are coming down under

One of the hottest destinations at the moment for working holidays is Canada. More and more Kiwis are making the dream of working in a ski resort a reality. Spending every day off skiing and boarding the awesome powder of the Canadian Rockies holds great appeal with snow sport crazy Kiwis. 18 months ago the amount of visas available for young New Zealanders (18-30) was increased from 800 to 2000.

Canada and New Zealand has many similarities and most Kiwis find it easy to assimilate into the Canadian Culture. The most popular jobs are found in hospitality or house keeping within the ski resorts and hotels although more and more get professional instructing jobs as well.

“Whether people are looking to become ski or snowboard instructors, add international experience to their hospitality CVs or are just looking for a good time, Canada is the place to be”, says Katrina Savage from STA Travel.

In the past you had to travel to Canada to organise a job. Now, for the first time in New Zealand, Canadian employers are coming down under to interview and hire staff on the spot. IEP (International Exchange Programs) has invited six employers to attend job fairs in New Zealand at the end of August. 100’s of jobs will be available and all positions come with accommodation.

The fairs will be in Auckland on August 19th & 20th, Christchurch August 21st and Wellington August 22nd. You don’t have to be a student to work in Canada, which opens the fairs up to anyone looking for a change in career or just the best time of their lives.

“This really is about peace of mind – knowing that you have a job and a place to stay when you get to Canada. I wish something like this had been available when I was travelling”, says Thomas Christensen, Executive Director of IEP.
