Rock, Paper, Scissors plays for Mobile Service of the Year

Run The Red and TOUCH/CAST are challenging the big boys at this year's TUANZ Innovation awards with their SMS version of the classic Rock, Paper, Scissors game.

RPS027 was developed for Telecom Mobile and became New Zealand's most successful text message campaign generating over 2.1 million text messages from 85,500 players during a 23 day period.

Telecom Mobile's Head of Marketing, Kevin Bowler, said: "RPS027 was a massive success for Telecom Mobile. Not only in terms of the scale of the game and the fact that it has become the biggest txt game in New Zealand, but it was great fun for our loyal customers".

As finalists Run The Red and TOUCH/CAST will jointly compete against Telecom, Vodafone and TelstraClear for the 2005 TUANZ Mobile Service of the Year Award.

RPS027 was conceived by experimental marketing (xm) agency TOUCH/CAST. RPS027 was a fully integrated, multi-channel campaign comprising viral marketing, TVCs, radio, ambient, web and wapsites, downloadable mobile content, branded and unbranded programme content, including a one hour TV finale on C4.

Run The Red utilised its RedPlay gaming platform to develop the SMS game and was responsible for developing and integrating the customised text application, web & WAP sites and overall management of the technical components of the project.

Deborah Crowe, Director of Operations for Run The Red says "Its great to be recognized for a campaign that really required all involved parties to go the extra distance. The results speak for themselves, apart from being a New Zealand success RPS027 is also the worlds largest multi player game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.'

Run The Red was recently a finalist in the 2005 Global Messaging Awards in London as well as winning the 2004 TUANZ (e)-vision for its Text banking service for PSIS.
