Below is a ranking of New Zealand websites drawn from the commercial advertising category within Nielsen//NetRatings' Market Intelligence, and ranked by unique browsers. Included in this category are all sites in Market Intelligence which sell advertising space on their site.
Traffic to all of these sites has been on an upward trend for most of 2005. Not only do these sites attract large numbers of unique browsers overall, but some also attract a large number of repeat visitors over the course of a week. Xtramsn.co.nz, nzdating.com, trademe.co.nz, stuff.co.nz, nzherald.co.nz and xtra.co.nz all appear in the top 20 sites ranked by frequency, the average number of times a unique browser visits a site within a reporting period, which in this case was one week.
Websites which generate high levels of repeat visits provide many different opportunities for engagement with visitors, of key interest to marketers seeking to break through in a cluttered media environment.
