Subaru's Top Weekend at Whakapapa

September 6, 2005

Subaru's Top Weekend at Whakapapa

Subaru drivers had to be on the mountain early to make the most of the exclusive car parking set aside at Whakapapa ski area at the recent Subaru Top Weekend held August 27 and 28.

Only those 200 keen skiers and snow boarders who made it to the top carpark by 8.30am got the benefit of the best carparks on the mountain.

With fantastic weather on tap, over 9000 people enjoyed the two day's activities which featured the Subaru Snow Rally - a speed sliding race down the mountain on Subaru crash mats, and involved Subaru ambassadors - multisport legend Steve Gurney and Chris West, the 2004 NZ National Rally Driver’s Champion.

Subaru drivers were greeted with free goodies from Cadbury Moro, Mizone, V, Jungle Coffee and Subaru. Thousands of competition entries were placed in the stunning Legacy Blitzen on display, as two ultimate prize packs were up for grabs courtesy of Macpac, Thule, Nokia and Atomic.

The weekend featured a display of the new 2006 Subaru Forester, Outback and Legacy models.

Subaru has been the Official Vehicle Supplier to Ruapehu Alpine Lifts (RAL), which runs the facilities on the North Island's major ski fields since the formation of RAL, continuing on from the successful Turoa relationship which begun 10 years ago.

Next year's Subaru Top Weekend is also being held in the South Island at Cardrona Alpine Resort in the Wairau Valley between Queenstown and Wanaka.
