Robbie Deans coaching small businesses
Robbie Deans, New Zealand’s most
consistently successful rugby coach in the last six years,
was today applying team strategy techniques to small
businesses in Canterbury.
The Porter Group of companies asked Deans to provide an insight for 70 Canterbury business owner operators.
``We want them to learn from the master coach Rob Deans. He will offer practical solutions on what they can do so they can become business leaders in New Zealand as well,’’ Porter Group spokesman Chris McBreen said today.
``We want to instil the Crusaders’ philosophy, success and influence into businesses. The principles that make the Crusaders so successful need to be injected into a work-life situation.’’
``With the Crusaders, Robbie Deans has been coach of the most successful rugby team consistently in the Super 12. He is an outstanding role model as a rugby coach, one of the best in the world, so we couldn’t think of anyone more appropriate,’’ McBreen said.
For over 55 years, the Porter Group of companies has been a number one earthmoving machinery sales and service provider, offering machine sales, parts, construction and mining hire equipment and heavy haulage transport services.
Today, its division stretches across five major companies -including Eagle Equipment Ltd, Porter Hire Ltd, Porter Heavy Haulage, Inhaul & Narm Finance.
In what began as a one man operation in 1945, company president Arthur Porter saw his business grow in road-contracting, developing into new and used machinery sales and service within the Eagle Equipment division.
